Notes From The Author

DEC/2011: We’re celebrating! We’ve lowered the price on
Seeds of Civilization Kindle eBooks,
not just for Holiday gifting, but to celebrate the new series at » Parallel Ops.  Save 20% over the Kindle release prices at all Kindle stores, here and abroad. When Frank Morton won a lottery jackpot in Tractrix, who could have imagined the events to follow?
Remember, Triangle of the Seeds of Civilization series is a prequel to the new series... Artifacts discovered deep beneath the sea in Triangle take on a whole new meaning in The Scientists. Take advantage of lowered eBook pricing—catch up.

NOV 26/2011: Release party in La Paz, Mexico! ...That’s right, and you’re invited. Allende Books, the independent English-language bookstore in La Paz will be hosting the party and R.J. Archer will be signing book covers for all who have purchased the Kindle version of The Scientists before or during the party. Parallel Ops.com has the details. Browse the photo album! » photos of the event
PD: We had a great time! Thanks also to those who purchased Seeds of Civilization paperbacks for signing.

OCT/2011: On Track for a Thanksgiving Release. Stay up-to-date with the progress of the upcoming Parallel Ops series, due to release its first thriller, The Scientists, on or before the start of the 2011 holiday season. I just received the first blurb for its opening page from author William Beck and another one is on its way from author Rick Chesler, both well-know thriller authors.
Remember, Triangle of the Seeds of Civilization series is a prequel to the new series, so take advantage of this month of October to catch up! Artifacts discovered deep beneath the sea in Triangle take on a whole new meaning in The Scientists.

SEPT/2011: Autumn in Baja We made it through the better part of the long, hot summer season in Baja and I’m nearly ready to publish the first novel in the new Parallel Ops series. The last chapter and Prologue of The Scientists are written! Now we’ll go into the final editing process with proofreaders!
In other news, we had a great time at Allende Books (in La Paz) during August, standing in for vacationing store owners Kathlene and Bruce. Now it’s back to writing. Remember, Triangle of the Seeds of Civilization series is a prequel to the new series, so take advantage of Labor Day weekend. Catch up!

AUG/2011: Thanks to you, we had another good month with ebook sales coming in 2/1 over print sales. In fact, after starting out slow, we topped last month in sales!
Beginning August 3rd, look for us at Allende Books in La Paz where we’ll be standing in for vacationing store owners Kathlene and Bruce, until Aug. 17. Stop in for a chat and walk away with
a signed copy and a Seeds Of Civilization series bookmark.

JULY/2011: Tractrix, Seeds Of Civilization edition, celebrates its fifth birthday! and still going strong. eBook Kindle sales have been great during June for all three novels in the series. Not to be outdone: Tsubute just passed 46,000 hits on the audio chapter since we posted it 3 years ago. And Triangle has been doing well in both print and eBook sales. Don’t forget to print your 3rd-quarter desktop calendar now at the GIFTS link below.
I also want to take this opportunity to THANK you for all your recent support of the four Facebook business pages in the margin to the left.

MAY-JUNE/2011 Dads & Grads: Like a good adventure?
How about one that takes place underwater and revolves around REAL archaeological mysteries that are mostly unknown to the public? Check out Triangle, the 3rd installment of my Seeds of Civilization series.
A great gift idea, too!

APR/2011 Chapter thirteen, The Scientisits
Where did the first quarter of this year go? As promised your 2nd quarter desktop calendar is up on the website for download! Find it at the “GIFTS” link. I have been writing, for sure — mostly articles for publication (Cabo Marine Show program and Baja Expeditions adventure stories). Book sales were great in March. But as for the next chapter of my new series of novels, let me just say that I opened a document with the words: “Chapter 13” at top. LOL.
How patient are you?

MAR/2011 TSUBUTE celebrates a birthday this month... 5 yrs!
(SciFi adventure series Seeds Of Civilization, book #2. )
Dive and travel enthusiasts can find it in print or Kindle editions, or place it on order at local Baja bookstores: El Caballo Blanco in Loreto, Allende Books in La Paz and El Tecolote Libros in Todos Santos. Thanks to El Caballo Blanco owners and book club for your hospitality during my visit to Loreto on Mar. 13!   » photo
Now I’m off for a 7-day eco-adventure aboard Baja Expeditions’ live-aboard to watch the whales in the lower Sea of Cortez.

FEB/2011 Research for Parallel Ops
On a beautiful sunny Sunday we set off from La Paz south on a research trip to Bahía de Los Sueños, previously known as "Bahía de los Muertos" south of La Ventana on the Sea of Cortez. Visit

JAN/2011: Renewed energy for follow-up series, Parallel Ops
First, let me wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year! Included in my resolutions is a promise to get back to work on the new series. Although I didn’t make nearly as much progress on the Parallel Ops series as I had hoped during 2010, I’m feeling “inspired” lately and I sincerely plan to have the series in bookstores (or on a Kindle near you) before the end of 2011! Since I haven’t yet released the novels, it’s only fair that I give you a brief update on your four favorite fictional characters:
• After more than five years in captivity, Tony is loose and on a mission to protect the secret Frank shared with you in the closing pages of Triangle.
• Linda and her new husband (name withheld for those who haven’t finished Triangle) are living secret lives in Baja, Mexico, and have stumbled onto a global network of terrorist activity.
• Jim has worked his way up to Lead Scientist on a team operating under direct Presidential orders just outside Washington, D.C..
• Frank is—well, if you already read Triangle, you know where Frank is.
In other, unrelated news, 2010 found me back in the USA for the first time in sixteen months on assignment for my one remaining U.S. client. I spent seven weeks in Oregon from early September through the end of October, with a side trip to my 46th high school class reunion near Chicago. I’ve also taken on several Mexican projects, including webmaster for the local dog refuge.
In November my wife and I moved into our first unfurnished dwelling since moving to Mexico and that means reacquiring all the furniture we sold or gave away up north! However, the new house has an incredible loft office space and I promise I’ll be putting it to good use on the new series.

AUG/2010: It’s new! Now you can take Seeds anywhere!
